The Paul Simon Public Policy Institute will explore the power and mystery of charisma on Monday, March 16 at 10 am CT during a virtual conversation with Molly Worthen, a professor at the University of North Carolina
Professor Worthen is the author of, "Spellbound: How Charisma Shaped American History from the Puritans to Donald Trump" which was published last year.
Worthen will discuss her book and other writings with Institute director John Shaw.
Worthen is a professor of American history at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. In addition to her teaching, she writes regularly about religion, politics, and higher education for the New York Times, The Atlantic, and other publications.
Worthen has a BA and a doctorate from Yale University. Her first book, "The Man Whom Nothing Was Lost," was about Charles Hill, a former American diplomat and Yale professor. Her second book, "Apostles of Reason," considers the history of American evangelism since 1945.
