Scott Simon To Visit SIU

Award-Winning Journalist to Discuss the Challenges and Opportunities Confronting America's Media

Scott Simon, host of Weekend Edition Saturday on NPR, will join the Institute on Wednesday, April 17th. He will meet with students and faculty to discuss his career in journalism and participate in an evening discussion with Institute Director John Shaw.

Simon is a Peabody and Emmy award-winning broadcaster, commentator, and author. Mr. Simon is a native of Chicago and joined NPR in 1977 as chief of its Chicago bureau. The Washington Post has called his show “the most literate, witty, moving, and just plain interesting news show on any dial.”

There will be a reception held before the speaking event from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the SIU Student Center Corker Lounge.
