Concurrent Enrollment Approval

Southern Illinois University Carbondale offers high school students the opportunity to earn college credit. This program will allow motivated students to experience university-level learning and get a head start on their college journey — while still in high school.

High school students must meet the following eligibility criteria to participate in the concurrent enrollment:

• Completed their first two years in high school (junior/senior standing)
• Achieved an overall unweighted GPA of at least a B average (3.0 on a 4.0 scale) at the time the student enters the the program and maintains that minimum GPA throughout the student’s participation in the SIU courses.
• Applied and been admitted to SIU at the time the course offerings are made available.
• The aptitude for completing college work and the ability to adjust socially to the campus community/online environment, as determined by high school staff.

Enrollment is limited to one course per student per term. It is assumed that high school staff who recommend students for this program will consider a student's aptitude for completing college work and a student's ability to adjust socially to the campus community.
